Emerge Weekly Update # 1

Welcome to the very first Emerge Miami Weekly Update! These posts will give you a brief overview of upcoming events that we’re organizing or promoting with other groups. If you’re interested in getting involved, or if you’ve got a cause/event you’d like Emerge to help organize and promote, you are invited to join us for our weekly meetings at Sweat Records, Tuesday nights at 7 PM.

Here are some of the exciting things coming up this week!

Friday, March 25 – 305 Critical Mass – 6:30 PM @ Government Center Metrorail Station – Join hundreds of fellow cyclists in the monthly rush hour urban ride. Check out the route and visit Miami Bike Scene for more info.

Saturday, March 26 - Tweed Ride – 10:00 AM @ University Metrorail Station – This is a oldey-timey tweed-themed ride, organized by Green Mobility Network. Dress up in your “olde time” cycling garb and enjoy a laid-back ride to the Coral Gables Museum for brunch. RSVP requested.

Sunday, March 27 - Florida City Ride – 10:00 AM @ Dadeland South Metrorail Station – Take a ride down the busway with us all the way to Florida City. We’ll stop at Robert is Here for tasty treats. Leave the cruisers at home: this ride is about 50 miles total!

Monday, March 28 - Candlelight Vigil for Victims of Japanese Nuclear Disaster – 6:30 PM @ Zen Village – Join Greenpeace Miami to observe a nationwide day of vigils to honor the people in Japan and other victims of nuclear disaster. RSVP requested. Contact Greenpeace Miami organizer Erik Ofengand at greenpeacemiami305 AT gmail DOT com or (305) 979-0247.

SweatstockAlso, we want to remind you that April 16th is SWEATSTOCK, the best all-day celebration of Record Store Day at Sweat Records. Emerge Miami will be there tabling and volunteering for the day, so stop by and say hello. Support your local businesses and artists: do NOT miss this event!
