Help Us Thrift Away Some of this Stuff! There’s Even More on the Way!

Your friends at Emerge Miami are holding a communal yard sale at one of our places this Sunday. So far, the majority of materials seems to be books and movies, but there will be other awesome pre-loved items such as clothes, furniture, bicycles, and more! A portion of the proceeds will go to Emerge so it can keep doing its thing.

The sale is on Sunday, July 22nd, from 7 AM to around 4 PM. There are many contributors to it, and we’d love to offload onto you with great bargains and awesome thrift!

Send an email to EmergeMiami at gmail dot com for location and details!

City of Miami #NoWalmartinMidtown Planning and Zoning Board tonight, 6:00pm at City Hall

We don’t want truck loading on primary streets! Tonight’s Planning and Zoning Appeals Board meeting is an important public forum.  We need a major turnout to let WalMart know that our elected officials created Midtown Miami as a shining model of Urban Planning and Design.

WalMart is attempting to amend Midtown’s Master Plan to remove Loading Zone Restrictions. This would dramatically increase traffic and cargo trucks to the area, have a negative impact on the walk-ability of the community, and eliminate the possibility of bike lanes or potential “Smart Growth” in the area.

Read more about the project at Save Midtown, Curbed Miami, Miami New Times, The Miami Herald, and Beached Miami.

Be sure to sign and share the petition. If you can’t go… e-mail your commissioner. Better yet, send a certified letter!
